Tap + aura.
The trail you leave.

We built the automation first. A pipeline that takes a design, prints it in multi-color, writes the NFC chip, and ships it in 48 hours. Somewhere along the way the result became a product.

How it started

We didn't set out to sell keychains.

We run a small print farm in the EU. The original problem was internal: how do you take a custom design, produce it in multi-color without manual intervention, and ship it the same day? We wrote software to automate the entire pipeline - design intake, AMS color programming, print queuing, NFC chip writing, QR generation, and dispatch.

The first physical product off that pipeline was a keychain. We gave a few to people we knew. They shared their contact details with a tap, and the people receiving them immediately wanted one. That was the signal.

We named it Tapora - tap + aura. The impression you leave when you tap. The digital trail that follows a physical interaction.

The workshop

Built in-house,
shipped from the EU.

Every Tapora product is designed, printed, programmed, and packed in our workshop in Birkirkara, Malta. We've been operating since 2026, and we don't outsource production. We run our own AMS print farm — the same multi-color technology used in professional prototyping environments — from DiHubMT, a startup hub inside the Malta Central Business District.

We wrote our own NFC programmer on an ESP32. It writes the chip, verifies the write, generates the QR code pointing to the same redirect URL, and logs the serial — all in one automated pass per unit. No manual steps between design approval and a boxed, tested product.

The print farm runs FDM printers with Bambu Lab AMS multi-material systems. Each unit uses a color-change profile generated by our own slicing pipeline — the logo or design is embedded in the body of the print, not applied as a sticker or coating on top. It's the same material from surface to core.

Shipping from inside the EU means your order arrives faster than products shipped from the US or Asia. Being Malta-based also means every unit is GDPR-compliant from day one — not retrofitted for compliance as an afterthought.

Founder

Jon Micallef

Jon built the print-to-ship automation pipeline that powers Tapora, combining a background in software with hands-on work in 3D printing and NFC hardware. He wrote the ESP32 NFC programmer, the OrcaSlicer color-change pipeline, and the web platform — then shipped the first keychain off it. Tapora is the product that came out the other end.

What we stand for

Four things we won't compromise on.

No subscription

Pay once. Your keychain or badge works forever. No platform fees, no lock-in, no recurring costs to keep your links alive.

Made in the EU

We print, program, and pack every unit in-house from our EU workshop. GDPR compliant by default - not as an afterthought.

NFC + QR always

Every unit has both. ~5–10% of NFC interactions fail on older hardware. The QR backup ensures 100% of taps succeed.

Real 3D printing

We use multi-color AMS printing - not epoxy pours, not laser engraving, not sticker overlays. Your design is in the body of the print.
